Paris!

Paris! What a city!

I had been so fortunate to visit Paris three times in my life. What a privelege. What a wonderful city. It is a city I really fell in love with.

Each time was a new experience, every time it was even better. The first time we did the city tour per boat on the chanels, the next time we took the red bus and the last time it was with a guide on foot. Each time was special on its own.

The first two times I visited Paris, was in summer. The first time we were there for only one night, definately too short. We walked the streets, from out hotel, then the Champs-Élysées to the Arc de Triomph, and then all the way to the Eiffel Tower.

One cannot describe the feeling when you see the Eiffel the first time!

The last time we visited Paris, was in December 2017. We arrived there while it was still dark and when we first saw the Eiffel, it was halfway in the clouds. What an anti-climax!

But, after a warm bath and putting on warm clothes, Paris started to live and once again, we had a wonderful time and Paris didn’t disappoint us at all. Paris in winter is wonderful.

If I could visit Paris once more in my lifetime, I would definately go. There are still so much to see and do.

Sunrise

I had the privilege to choose our prompt for today in the JusJoJan challenge and I chose sunrise. When I think about it again, the better choice would be sunset because I am not a morning person and miss most sunrises.

But, for many years on the farm I was awake then and went to the shed for Morning Scripture and, mostly in winter, could appreciate the sunrise.

Sunrise is a wonderful part of the day. It annouces the beginning of a new day. A new beginning. It has a present in it: About 16 hours that we may fill as we thinks best. A new day that we can do our best, perhaps fix a few faults that we made, make even more faults! Sunrise gives me the chance to start new. Isn’t that wonderful?

What means sunrise to you? Write it in the comments, or even better, write it on your own blog and remember to tag this post.

My blog Jot#3

I started blogging in 2010 after I watched the movie, ‘Julie & Julia’ about a girl who had a cooking blog and thought that I wanted to try it.

At first I was totally addicted to it. I wanted to be in blogland all day, reading blogs and chatting with the other bloggers. Many days I felt guilty when I spent time on my blog.

Today I am glad about my blog. It is an inspirational blog in Afrikaans and lots of people find something encouraging to read there.

My own life changed since I started blogging. I have much more confidence, I grew in myself, I know myself better. Blogging changed how I think about certain things, it broaden my view.

Out of blogging came a lot of things that I am very proud of:

I had been on South African National TV once.

I published two cooking books in Afrikaans, the one was translated into English as well.

I wrote for an Agricultural electronic magazine, as well for the well known Afrikaans Christian’s Magazine, Finesse’s blog. One of my articles were published in the Finesse Magazine.

I also wrote articles for a slimming e-magazine. Some other e-magazine also published some of my blog posts.

The newest is that a Christian Publisher in South Africa asked me to advertise and revise some of their books on my Facebook and blog.

Since blogging, my electronic web also expanded and I have two Facebook pages: ‘Toortsie se Faceboekblad’ and ‘Toortsie se Bantingresepteboeke’. I am on Pinterest and Instagram.

Thanks to blogging, I met the nicest people, real people in real life. People with whom I can walk for life.

I love blogging. I love my blog. I love the interaction with other people. I love reading other people’s blogs.

I can recommend blogging with all my heart. Blogging enriched my life.

Toortsie.
