Today’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt is bash/abash/a bash. As an Afrikaans speaking person, I couldn’t think what the meaning of the word is at first. I asked Google and then I remembered!
I published a book with the word, ‘bash’ in the title! And it wasn’t someone else’s idea, it was my own idea! Toortsie’s Banting Bash!
The reason I chose that name, was that it is a recipe book suitable for Banting, but I wanted a name that was easy to say, nice in the mouth and on the ear. I looked for something that alliterates. ‘Toortsie’s Banting Bash!‘ was such a title. I liked it. I didn’t know the meaning of ‘bash’, but I liked the sound of it.
The translator told me that it was suitable because a bash can be a party, a social gathering, a celebration, a festivity. And yes, my book ís a party, a festivity, with wonderful food, very colourful, fun to make, with recipes that everyone that loves nice food, may eat. Not only Banters.
Best wishes
Toortsie
