The opposite of static

Today’s daily prompt: Static. According to Google is the meaning of static: ‘lacking in movement, action, or change, especially in an undesirable or uninteresting way.’

I am a child of the sixties, my teenage years were in the seventies, and I started my adulthood in the eighties. I came from a farm in South Africa and I felt secure in a life that didn’t change so much.

But, as all of us know, everything changed. The reality is that nowadays, everything changes very often. And yes, I changed as well. Nothing is static any more!

Something else also happened: Years ago I tried to give a tiny step outside my comfort zone. I can’t remember what was the first step I took, because, over years, I did it quite a lot of times! Every time it took a lot of courage, but most of the times it worked. And when I became accustomed to the ‘new’ comfort zone, it was time for a new step again.

You see, you get used to the feeling that you get outside the comfort zone and it can be really exciting out there.

So, when things get static in my world, it’s time for something new!

Best wishes

    1. Jou Afrikaans is puik! Of is jy Afrikaanssprekend?
